We are pleased to announce that we are investigating ways in which members can streamline their use of Gecko and HEAT and are now looking for volunteers to help in these discussions. This is with a view to simplifying the process of transferring data captured when using Gecko to the Student record.
In 2023, we asked how members use the two systems. From this feedback, we have identified issues encountered when migrating data from Gecko to the database and are now at a stage where we can investigate further.
We are interested in how the process of transferring data from Gecko to HEAT via Import. We are looking at how this can be simplified, with a specific focus upon which fields are used within both, with the aim of creating a simplified Student Import template. We will share this template with Gecko, who will map the fields they use to capture this information. We are aiming to produce a User Guide that will simply demonstrate how to capture individual information within Gecko and transfer this to HEAT via the Student Import function.
Following our December announcement, we have spoken with a small number of members about the Student data they transfer from Gecko. From this, we will feed this into achieving the intended aims for this research. We are reviewing Student data as a first step, with potential next steps including a delve into Activities data.
Thank you to everyone who has been in touch so far. Your input is always appreciated and we cannot do this without you.
If your organisation uses Gecko and would like to contribute to this exciting new venture, please contact Georgina Collins or HEAT Support.
