We are pleased to announce that new dataset sources which detail the school-level Key Stage 4 (KS4) and Key Stage 5 (KS5) attainment data for Welsh secondary schools are now available to members to download from the File Store.
These datasets are the most recent sources from the Welsh government relating to exams taken in the 2023/24 Academic Year.
The KS4 dataset outlines the following Welsh attainment metrics at school-level, with breakdowns for Sex and Free School Meal (FSM) eligibility provided where applicable:
The KS5 dataset outlines the following Welsh attainment metrics at school-level for subjects where applicable:
For ease of use and to support linking with other HEAT datasets and exports, we have included the mapped Institution HEAT ID in both dataset files. We have otherwise retained the formatting of the fields and data within the datasets, as these are source files.
For more information and statistics concerning the Welsh KS4 and KS5 attainment metrics, please see the Welsh government website, StatsWales.
The resource can be accessed at the following File Store record (members only): Welsh Attainment Source Datasets #00002167
At this moment in time, this data can only be accessed via download from the File Store, in the source dataset format. If needed, you can link the dataset to other HEAT exports and datasets manually via the use of the Institution HEAT ID field.
The data cannot yet be accessed via the Institution Record on the HEAT database, nor the Institution Profile Report, though we will provide further information in the future should this data be incorporated into the HEAT database.
As per the attainment data for England and Northern Ireland, we will endeavour to upload the latest version of the KS4 and KS5 attainment datasets as soon as they become publicly available. They are expected to be updated on an annual release schedule, however this will depend on availability and publication from the government source. We will provide notification as soon as the updated datasets become available.
If you have any queries in regards to this data update, please contact HEAT Support.
