Institution record data update: Secondary and Post-16 Destinations data for English institutions

We are pleased to announce that the following fields have been updated for English institutions, where data is available:

• ‘Staying in education for at least two terms’ (Key Stage 4)
• ‘Destination at end of Key Stage 4’
• ‘Staying in education for at least two terms’ (Key Stage 5)
• ‘Staying in education or employment for at least two terms’
• ‘Destination at end of Key Stage 5’

These fields can be found in the Destinations tab of an Institution record, under the sections titled ‘Key Stage 4 (KS4)’ and ‘Key Stage 5 (KS5)’. The fields are also exportable via an Institution Profile Report (members only), which can be found on the Reports section of the HEAT database.

This update relates to data for the 2023-24 Academic Year, which is the most recent available dataset, and applies to Secondary and Post-16 Phase institutions.

Destinations Data not included in the 2022/23 release:

There are Key Stage 5 destination fields which have not been updated due to their omission from the previous (2022/23) and all future destination dataset releases. The Department for Education states their reason for this is there is no longer the provider level accountability measure in place to compliment this measure. The fields impacted are as follows:

• Destination at end of Key Stage 5: Oxford or Cambridge (Level 3 students only)
• Destination at end of Key Stage 5: Russell Group (Level 3 students only)
