We are pleased to announce that the following fields have been updated for English and Northern Irish institutions, where data is available:
These fields can be found in the Attainment tab of an Institution record, under the sections titled ‘Key Stage 2 (KS2)’, ‘Key Stage 4 (KS4)’. The fields are also exportable via an Institution Profile Report (members only), which can be found on the Reports section of the database.
This update relates to data for the 2024/25 Academic Year, which is the most recent available dataset, and applies to Primary, Secondary and Post-16 Phase institutions.
There are Key Stage 2 attainment fields which have not been updated due to their omission from the current (2024/25) and the previous (2023/24) attainment dataset releases. The Department for Education (DfE) states their reason for omission as “KS2 pupils in these years did not have KS1 assessments due to the COVID-19 pandemic”. The fields impacted are as follows:
For more information regarding the 2024/25 KS2 release, please see the DfE’s website.
There are also Key Stage 4 attainment fields which have been updated with “NA” (Not Applicable) due to limitations in their source data for the current (2024/25) and the next (2025/26) attainment dataset releases. The DfE states the reasoning for this limited data as “there is no KS2 prior attainment data available to use to calculate Progress 8 when the relevant cohorts reach the end of KS4 as primary tests and assessments were cancelled in academic years 2019/20 and 2020/21 due to COVID-19 disruption”. The fields impacted are as follows:
For more information regarding the 2024/25 KS4 release, please see the DfE’s website.
To learn more about where we source our school and college data, alongside which fields are updated on the Institution record and when, please see the Institution Profile Source resource.
This can be accessed via the ellipsis (overflow menu) on any Institution record (members only) by selecting the option to ‘Download Source File’. Alternatively, this resource can be downloaded from the File Store (members only).
