We are delighted to announce that HE Track data for Ambassadors who entered HE from 2015 to 2023 is now available to members on the database. Following a successful post-entry trial in 2025, this is the first time HE Track data for all eligible Ambassador records is included a HE Track cycle.
Are you looking for the latest HE Track data for your Student records? Student HE Track data is now also available.
The HE Track (formerly known as ‘HESA Track’) is a key element of our suite of tracking datasets and dashboards, shown as the Higher Education Data & Dashboard in our Tracking Diagram. This dataset supports HEAT members with the final stage of evaluation, analysing impact.
Through the HE Track, members can access Student and Ambassador-level data on enrolment, continuation and attainment in HE, and progression to postgraduate study and employment. This supports your organisation to examine outcomes for tracked individuals and evaluate interventions across the full HE journey, from access to employment.
As a reminder, here are the criteria Ambassador records had to meet to be sent for tracking into the HE population in the latest cycle:
You can generate an Ambassador HE Track Report via the HE Track’s ‘Generate Data’ button in the Reports area of the database (members only), which will be processed overnight.
Please note that only Users with the Roles Lead, Lead Lite, Coordinator, Coordinator Lite can use this Report option. If you are not authorised to access HE Track data, please contact your organisation’s HEAT Point of Contact.
You can also view your Ambassadors’ HE Track data on the Ambassador record Higher Education tab (members only).
In 2025, we ran a post-entry pilot, tracking eligible Ambassador records for HEAT members who participated in the trial into the 2022/23 HE Track cycle. Following the success of this trial, we began rolling out Ambassador tracking in HE to include eligible Ambassador records for all our members in the 2023/24 cycle.
Expanding Ambassador tracking to all HEAT members has helped us identify some areas we would like to refine as we continue to expand what the HEAT Service offers in the post-entry space. As we look ahead to the 2024/25 cycle HE Track data and beyond, we will continue to review our tracking criteria and processes to ensure we are maximising the potential of tracking your Ambassador records going forward. For example, we are considering also tracking Ambassador records with record state ‘Archived’ to increase the sample sizes available for research and evaluation of post-entry engagement.
All versions of HE Track (former ‘HESA Track’) data referring to the previous tracking cycle must be deleted. If you have downloaded previous years’ HE Track data, please ensure you have deleted all copies you have saved locally. Before using the HE Track 2023/24 cycle dataset, we kindly request you read Jisc’s Terms and Conditions (members only).
If you have any questions about this announcement, please contact HEAT Support.
