Institution record data update: Amended Ethnicity data for English institutions

We would like to inform you that the following fields have been updated for English institutions, where data is available:

• ‘Percentage/Number of Ethnic Groups
• ‘Percentage/Number of Ethnicities

These Ethnicity fields have been updated to reflect the corrected data published by the Department for Education in September 2025. The latest dataset release corrects the ethnicity breakdowns for ‘-any other background’ groups and removes the suppression values from all Ethnicity fields.

These fields can be found in the Characteristics tab of an Institution record, under the sections titled ‘Pupil Characteristics’.

The fields are also included in the General Tab of the Institution Profile Report and are exportable via an Institution Export. The Institution Profile Report can be downloaded via the Reports section of the database (members only), and contains the Characteristics tab data, alongside other key demographical Institution data such as the Destinations and Attainment tabs.

This update relates to data for the 2024/25 Academic Year, which is the most recent available dataset, and the update applies to Primary and Secondary Phase institutions.
