Following the announcement in August that the Medical Schools Council (MSC) and Dental Schools Council have joined HEAT, we have been working on the steps needed to onboard all UK medical and dental schools. As part of this we need to provide restricted access to the database for some schools which are affiliated with a University which is not currently a member of HEAT. These schools will be managed by the MSC and DSC.
This restricted role provides simplified access to the database for simple data entry in order for the non-member medical or dental schools to provide data to the MSC/DSC. The new Role, called User (non-member medical/dental school), will now appear in the list of default Roles (members only), indicated by a padlock, and therefore will be available to select when creating a new User. As the MSC and DSC will be using these specifically for managing Users affiliated with non-member Universities, we do not recommend that the wider membership use this new Role. This Role is also subject to change as we may need to adjust the permissions as this new type of User embeds into the Service.
This Role does not relate to member Universities who have a medical or dental school as they will be free to decide the access for their own medical or dental school’s Users.
If you have any queries regarding this announcement, please do not hesitate to contact Lucy Bailey.
