The current version of the HEAT database has now been in use for more than seven years. Since its inception, much has changed and it is now time for us to start looking towards the future.
To achieve this, we will look at the path travelled thus far and begin to identify how the membership and our technical friends see the road ahead. Discussion has begun internally, with Database Development Panel (DDP) members, and our Technical Team. We are identifying stakeholders and determining methods of engagement that maximise the impact of this review without taking up too much membership time.
During this time, we have agreed with the Steering Group and the DDP to maintain what we have. This means that we will continue to consider all feedback but also ask the question ‘Is this needed whilst in a system review phase?’. If feedback is approved for implementation, we will look for the simplest solution to complete the request. We will continue to work on improvements outlined within the JISC architectural review, API fixes and change requests according to sector need.
We will publish updates as and when they become available. If you have any questions regarding this review, please contact HEAT Support.
