Update to the Institution Profile Power BI Dashboard

We are pleased to announce that the Institution Profile Power BI Dashboard has been updated to include the most up to date comparator data available from the Department for Education (DfE). In this update, we have also streamlined the comparator dataset source and have implemented minor technical updates to improve the efficiency and comparator functionality of the dashboard.

What is the Institution Profile Power BI Dashboard?

The Institution Profile Power BI Dashboard was launched in June 2024 and is designed to provide a user friendly and interactive way for members to easily interrogate and visualise institution data. The dashboard has been designed to allow members to set up their own custom targeting criteria and then identify and compare institutions on the HEAT database against their custom criteria, supporting with the Targeting section of the Evaluation cycle.

The dashboard has been designed to support a deep-dive into the student population within your identified target institutions, as well as how that institution compares to Local Authority, Regional, or National comparators.

What changes have been made?

This update refreshes the comparator dataset that is provided alongside the Institution Profile Power BI Dashboard to include the latest available Attainment and Destinations data that is available from the DfE. The Attainment data pertains to the 2023/24 Academic Year, and the Destinations data pertains to the 2022/23 Academic Year, and both are provided in the comparator dataset to National, Regional, and Local Authority level, subject to availability.

The comparator dataset format has also been streamlined to improve usability and efficiency when loaded into the dashboard resource.

In addition, we have also released minor improvements to the comparator measures within the dashboard resource, in order to improve efficiency and functionality. We have also updated the dashboard calculations pertaining to the Attainment and Destinations data available in the tabs of the Institution Profile on the database (Institution record), in order to prepare for and reflect the data updates to the Institution Profile.

How can I access the dashboard?

The Institution Profile Power BI Dashboard can be downloaded from the File Store (members only). The File Store download also includes datasets required to use with the dashboard in order to access its full functionality, and a support document outlining set-up instructions and key information pertaining to the dashboard.
