In the Winter 2024 Update, we are improving the format of the Institution Profile Underlying Dataset. Part of this work includes as the archiving of the supplementary Deciles .csv file as it will be superseded by the underlying dataset.
Currently, the Institution Profile Report zipped folder contains three separate data files:
The first of these listed files provides the key Institution record profiling data in a multiple worksheet format, with data split based on Geography cohort to support quick navigation. The underlying dataset format provides a single .csv file version of the data contained in the Institution record, and the supplementary .csv file contains the deciles geography data at an Institution-level in a single dataset.
The Winter 2024 Update will see the archival of the Deciles supplementary .csv, resulting in the Institution Profile Report zipped folder to be comprised of two data files, the Institution Profile Report and the underlying dataset, which already include decile data.
This update will also see the ‘Dataset year’ field in the underlying dataset .csv to be split into its two composite parts, the ‘Attainment’ and the ‘Destinations’ dataset year relevant to each row of the dataset.
The shift from a joint ‘Dataset year’ field to separate ‘Attainment’ and ‘Destination’ year fields will provide further customisation flexibility for members when exploring the data in the underlying dataset.
Following the implementation of the Institution Profile Underlying Dataset .csv which contains the Institution profiling data in a single source, the planned deprecation of the supplementary Deciles .csv will reduce the number of Institution profiling datasets that members need to navigate, increasing usability and efficiency, as the deciles data contained in the Deciles .csv can also be accessed via the underlying dataset.
