Institution record data update: ILR Post-16 Characteristics data for English institutions

The Institution records for English Post-16 institutions have now been updated with the ILR Characteristics data pertaining to 2025/26

We are pleased to announce that the following fields have been updated for English institutions, where data is available:

’Number of Pupils/Boys/Girls’
‘Number of Pupils/Boys/Girls Less than 19 years’
‘Number of Pupils/Boys/Girls 19+ years
’Percentage/Number of Asian’
’Percentage/Number of Black’
’Percentage/Number of Mixed Group’
’Percentage/Number of Other’
’Percentage/Number of White’
’Percentage/Number of Unclassified’

These fields can be found in the Characteristics tab of an Institution record, under the sections titled ‘Pupil Counts’ and ‘Pupil Characteristics’. This update relates to data for the 2025/26 Academic Year, which is the most recent available dataset, and applies to Post-16 Phase institutions.

Export Institution Data for Targeting

The fields are also included in the General tab of the Institution Profile Report and can be exported from the database via an Institution Export.

The Institution Profile Report contains the Characteristics tab data alongside other key demographical information, such as the Destinations and Attainment data, to support effective targeting of schools and colleges based on learner characteristics. It is available for download from the Reports section of the database (members only).

This can be accessed via the ellipsis (overflow menu) on any Institution record (members only) by selecting the option to ‘Download Source File’. Alternatively, this resource can be downloaded from the File Store (members only).
