- Institution record data update: Characteristics data for English Institutions
We would like to make members aware of some important updates to the Institution record data, alongside a reminder of the resources that support these changes.
There has been an important update to the Institution Record data which we would like to make our members aware of.
Institution Record Characteristics tab
We are pleased to announce that the ‘Pupil Counts by Year Group’, ‘Ethnicity’, ‘English as an additional language’, ‘SEN status’, ‘Young Carer’ and ‘Absence’ fields have been updated for all English Schools. These updated fields can be found in the Pupil Counts and Pupil Characteristics sections of the Characteristics tab. We will be imminently updating these fields, where they are available, for Schools in Scotland and Northern Ireland.
All updates, other than the ‘Absence’ fields, relate to data for the 2023/24 Academic Year, which is the most recent available dataset. The ‘Absence’ fields relate to data for the 2022/23 Academic Year, which is the most recent available dataset.
The Welsh characteristics data for the 2023/24 Academic Year is due to be updated this July, as soon as the dataset is made available.
Institution Profile Report
This data is now available on the database and can also be viewed through the Institution Profile Report. This can be downloaded via the Reports section of the database (members only), and contains the Characteristics tab data, alongside other key demographical Institution data such as the Destinations and Attainment tabs.
For further information regarding which fields are updated for each country’s update, please see the Institution Profile Source resource, which can be accessed via the ellipsis (overflow menu) on any Institution record by selecting the option to ‘Download Source File’. Alternatively, members can download the resource from File Store (members only).
