HEAT is considering submitting a bid to the OfS for a share of a new £2m Equality of Opportunity in Higher Education Innovation Fund. The bid would be aimed at addressing the key equality of opportunity risks to Service Children – Knowledge and Skills, and Information and Guidance. We know that many of you work with Service Children and have been flagging them on the HEAT database, but this is a group about which more needs to be known and we would like to work with you to make that happen. We would be delighted to hear from any member institution that would like to get involved, please express your interest by the 27th September 2024.
Any bid would need to have a focus on collaboration/partnership to address the key Equality of Opportunity risks for Service Children. The OfS’s expectation is that any activity delivery be ‘higher risk’, meaning that it should be innovative, with a clear theory of change. The OfS acknowledges that whilst higher risk innovation may not work, there should be a clear evaluation plan for the activities included in any bid.
HEAT expects that it would contribute to the bid by enabling partners to use the HEAT system and tools to plan and execute the evaluation of their higher risk activities with Service Children, helping them to collect much needed data about this group in order that the sector can better support them.
Please do contact anna.anthony@heat.ac.uk or rachael.edgar@heat.ac.uk by the 27th September 2024 to express an interest in working with HEAT to submit a bid to the Fund. We look forward to hearing from you!
