An opportunity has arisen for any interested members to join the Membership Application Panel. This important working group represents the collective membership in the decision-making process required for applications from prospective member organisations who wish to join the Service.
Once an application is received, the panel is convened for an online meeting to discuss their thoughts and determine the appropriate member-type for the prospective organisation, if applicable. The panel follows the general principles set out in the Member Eligibility flow chart. At the moment, the panel considers one application at a time per meeting but in due course, we may collate applications to minimise the number of meetings.
Whilst still relatively new, the panel has been fundamental in supporting the launch of our two new types of HEAT membership and in the past year have helped us welcome three new members: The Unite Foundation, London Interdisciplinary School and the University of Law. They will continue to be instrumental in helping smaller organisations to join the Service.
We would now like to expand the panel slightly to ensure that we have the numbers necessary to ensure we remain quorate. If you are keen to represent the membership in an important decision-making process, have been considering joining one of our working groups or already sit on one and would like to widen your remit then we would like to hear from you. If you would like to express interest or request an informal chat to learn more about this opportunity, please contact HEAT Support.
