- Change to HEAT’s Contracting Organisation – No Change to Service or Terms
The HEAT Service has been hosted by the University of Kent since its inception. From 1st August 2026, the University of Kent and the University of Greenwich are merging and will become a single legal entity, the London and South East University Group
As the University of Kent and the University of Greenwich move towards the launch of the London and South East University Group (LASE), it will be business as usual for the HEAT Service and HEAT Team. We do not anticipate any disruption to service delivery.
As a legal formality, we are required to update the contracting entity within the HEAT Legal Agreements. Where the University of Kent is currently the Co-ordinating Organisation, this will transfer to LASE from 1st August 2026.
I would like to emphasise that there will be no changes to the terms of the agreement, other than the substitution of the contracting entity. All rights and obligations under the Agreement will transfer to LASE, and the Agreement will continue without interruption.
To formalise this change, we will be issuing a novation letter, which your organisation will be asked to sign and return. We plan to begin this process over the next month.
- For members whose legal agreements end before 1st August 2026, we will send the novation letter as part of our usual communication relating to your next HEAT Agreement.
- For members whose legal agreements end after 1st August 2026, we will email points of contact and legal contacts with a link to the novation letter in the File Store, asking you to download, sign and return it before 1st August 2026.
- For members whose legal agreements end on 1st August 2026, including all Uni Connect Agreements, you will not be required to sign a novation letter, as the new agreement will commence on the same date as the new legal entity of LASE.
