About HEAT

The Higher Education Access Tracker (HEAT) Service is a national non-profit-making collaboration between Higher Education (HE) outreach providers that is owned and developed by members. HEAT provides a monitoring and evaluation service for member institutions engaged in widening participation (WP) to HE, providing efficient and cost-effective data management, analysis and reporting of all aspects of their outreach activities. At the heart of the HEAT Service is outreach participant data collection and tracking. An online database is available for subscribing Higher Education providers (HEPs) and organisations that deliver outreach to widen participation. On behalf of its membership, HEAT negotiates access to educational data to investigate what happens to outreach participants. The Service then disseminates this information to its members, using the data collected to underpin research into relationships between outreach participation and key student outcomes – including HE entry and success in HE.
