The HEAT Groups – a thematic paper

HEAT’s latest research report, entitled The HEAT Groups – A Thematic Paper, examines attainment and progression outcomes for HEAT’s student groups (the HEAT Groups). Classifying students into groups based on both their socioeconomic background and prior attainment allows us to compare outcomes for students who are similar in their likelihood of progressing to higher education. The paper identifies critical points in the educational pathways of certain groups, providing insight into when outreach interventions might be needed most.

This report, which can be viewed and downloaded from the Live File Store, has been approved by the HEAT Research Group for external circulation – so please feel free to share outside of your institutions. We will also be sharing the report with our contacts at the Office for Students (OfS) and the Department for Education (DfE).

If you have any questions about the report, please contact our Senior Analyst Anna Anthony.
